I am Amaterasu, Sun Goddess and Ruler of the Six Directions. Once, when my brother greatly angered me, I took shelter in a cave, but I was unaware of the turmoil my disappearance had caused once Heaven and Earth were left in darkness. A sister Goddess lured me out of my cave with a good-natured trick, and I have since promised to never hide my light from the world again. I am greatly drawn to mirrors, shining surfaces that multiply the light of the Sun, perhaps because my name means, "Shining in Heaven."
