American Goddesses
Goddesses from North and South America
Also Featuring:
Califia, Dark Mother, Amazon Queen of California
Copper Woman of the Pacific Northwest
The First Woman, made of all of the elements, Grandmother of us all.
A fighter, a survivor, a part of all of us
Estanatlehi, Navaho turquoise sky Goddess,
shape-shifting Goddess of change
Interestingly, in Estanatlehi's story, she grew to adulthood in 18 days, which is the length of time a monarch butterfly is in its chrysalis, so this Native American butterfly seemed a good match for her!
Mama Allpa, Incan Goddess of the Harvest
I am Mama Allpa, Incan Earth Goddess of the Harvest. When you see modern photographs of the sacred city of Machu Piccu, you have a glimpse of the beautiful but harsh land I made fertile. The lesson I give you is that it is possible to thrive, even if the odds seem against you. It may require a bit of extra work (my people trudged up that great mountain to live in the midst of such beauty!), but you can prevail.
Marie Laveau, Voudou Queen
Raven Woman could also be called by her name Angwusnasomtaka,
but Raven Woman is easier to spell. :)
To the Hopi, Angwusnasomtaka is Mother and Matriarch of all the kachinas. I used the yellow leaf fabric here to remind us of the fertility, prosperity, and good luck Raven Woman provides with her offerings of corn.
To others, the Raven itself is a powerful totem, calling to individuals for different reasons. Some people view the Raven as a Trickster, or Provider, or Teacher, or Mystic Dreamer. However the Raven calls to you, this doll will help you celebrate the connection!
I am Ix Chel, Moon Mother of the Mayans. I gave birth to the Directions, and I can help you give birth to the direction you'd like to see your life take, as well. The cycles of life and death are mine; like the moon, you can endlessly renew yourself. If you don't like the way something is going, end it, and be reborn! You have the power to choose your direction. Watch me waxing and waning, growing and dying, and find the cycles of rebirth within yourself.
